The Instant Fence Wireless Pet Fence and Pet Containment System was the first wireless pet fencing system. Another in a long list of Firsts from PetSafe. With this innovative, portable system, there are no wires to bury. Just plug the transmitter into an electrical outlet close to the area where you want to contain your pet. The Transmitter communicates with the Receiver on your pet's collar and helps keep him or her in the area you’ve designated. The system is portable so you can bring it along with you! An unlimited number of pets can be added to the system as long as they wear a PIF-275 Receiver Collar.

You temporarily define the containment area with Boundary Flags for a visual aid in training your pet. Your pet wears a Receiver Collar with Contact Points that touch his or her neck and, once trained, he or she is allowed to roam freely in the containment area. When your pet reaches the Boundary Zone, the Receiver Collar gives a warning beep before delivering a safe Static Correction through the Contact Points to get your pet's attention until he or she returns to the containment area.

Safety features:

Digitally coded signal to prevent false activation. Only our transmitter can activate the receiver. Other brands' receivers can be activated by televisions, cordless phones, garage door openers, etc. We use filters and coded signals to prevent this. Don't trust your pet's safety to anything but a PetSafeâ„¢ Containment System. Our receiver is Fail-Safe. If your pet gets trapped in the correction zone, the receiver will shut down after 25 seconds to prevent overcorrection.

How the Instant Fence works:

Instant Fence is a revolutionary new concept that provides the safest, simplest form of pet containment ever. Setting up your Instant Fence takes just a few minutes with the included installation video. The transmitter plugs into a standard 110 volt outlet and emits a 17.5kHz radio signal which is picked up by the lightweight receiver worn on your pet's collar which "listens" for the signal. Since the signal will transmit reliably through walls and other obstructions, the transmitter can be placed in any convenient and discreet location, typically in the garage or a closet. Once you have set up the Instant Fence, you can now adjust the range that is appropriate for your pet and your yard. While the collar/receiver is receiving the signal, your pet is free to run and play in your yard. When he approaches the boundary of the signal area, he receives a warning beep. If your pet does not return, he receives a static correction which is startling but not harmful. With a little simple training, your pet will quickly learn his boundaries.

Training your pet is quick and easy. Just follow the training instructions on the video that is included with your Instant Fence. Once you have adjusted the signal to the perimeter you want, mark the boundary by placing the training flags at the edge of the signal. Every Instant Fence comes with the transmitter, one receiver, 50 boundary flags for training your pet and a video and manual that explains installation and training. You can contain an unlimited number of pets with your Instant Fence by purchasing additional additional Instant Fence Receivers. 

We do not recommend the Instant Fence for pets under 8 pounds. In addition, we do not recommend the Instant Fence for dogs that are stubborn or hard to train or that have thick fur. The receiver may not have a strong enough correction for these types of dogs. The system works by transmitting a radio signal up to 90 feet in all directions from the transmitter which becomes the center of the containment area you wish to create. The signal field can be adjusted at the Boundary Switch on each Instant Fence Transmitter anywhere from as little as a 15 foot radius (which equals a 30 foot diameter) to up to a 90 foot radius (which equals a 180 foot diameter) from the transmitter. The shape of the signal is in a perfect circle and the shape cannot be changed. The range of the Instant Fence can be increased by using 2 or more transmitters. Each Instant Fence Transmitter can be set for a different range. This creates multiple intersecting circles. 2 transmitters would create a boundary in a shape similar to the MasterCardâ„¢ logo. The signal is cancelled where the circles intersect allowing your pet access to the entire containment area created by the intersecting circles. The transmitters can be located a maximum of 150 feet apart and each transmitter must be protected from the weather. They cannot get wet. An additional transmitter would create a boundary that is up to 180 feet wide and up to 330 feet long.
